...4 months later

...its been a long time since I posted anything- and so today I start again!

Ok since September 2013 I have started back with PhD, a new supervisor NS joined SE- supervisory team is now complete. The PA is now due to be proposed to a panel next month (March) NS has offered up a completely new perspective to my research, positive in some areas; however the negatives are for me to me think more about where my research focus is - What is that I hear you ask?? ok so I'm still entertaining the idea of the creative process, however new development is linking the pedagogy of studio creativity with spectator theories derived from psychoanalysis to present as an innovative approach to creative thinking in Higher Education. ummmm! NS feedback has helped, specifically defining those objectives so that are clear to what it is I will undertake once PA has been approved?. Hence for the past few weeks I have been working to turn it around- not easy I have to say? due to making (for me at such short notice) immense changes, I sent 2nd draft Friday 21st, and now await further feedback, amendments...for me I need to add theories surrounding creative Pedagogy and title requires addressing- its rubbish!!

ShowTime 95  Scarborough 2013
Other than research - I have been getting really excited about taking pictures again.   I guess this came about by time spent in Scarborough last summer, where staying with a friend I followed (over a brief period of time) a grand victorian building once an old peoples home go under redevelopment - it became apparent to me that I was fascinated with the destruction and construction of the house, and wanted to take pictures to show the temporal activity of the exterior of the building being stripped bare to allow its aged interior and its contents finally reveal a sense of  absence- and thus to become sculptural narrative composition made up of concrete, brick, window frames, glass, steel, pipes and board...Showtime 95 was taken though a gap in the fence, the board propped against the brickwork conveys a narrative of Rod Rogers evening performances I guess put on for the old people staying there? however it is more than likely  the building was once a hotel too??, on the back of the board written in chalk is badly spelt menu of burgers and chips, drinks list etc. It was important here for me to capture the board in this framework of strong angles, specifically because it was place out of context to what it was originally intended for...

This works along with others have since been shown in a group exhibition at 108 Gallery, Cold Bath Road, Harrogate. 14th - 24th January. Two works are currently showing at the 'Open' Ferrens Art Gallery 15th February - 27th April
